About this trip
Six days across northern Vietnam, moving from the busy streets of Hanoi to the quieter countryside of Ninh Binh and out onto the water in Halong Bay.
You start in the capital, then head to Hoa Lu, Vietnam's ancient first capital, before reaching Ninh Binh's limestone karsts and rice paddies, often called 'Halong Bay on Land'. The trip ends with a cruise through the real Halong Bay, staying overnight on a traditional junk boat.
It's a straightforward introduction to the region's best-known sights, with some flexibility built in rather than every hour mapped out for you.
What you'll do
- Cruise Halong Bay by traditional junk boat past limestone karsts
- Visit Hoa Lu, Vietnam's ancient first capital

- Spend time in Hanoi's old quarter
- Partially guided, so you'll have some free time to explore independently
