About this trip
Eight days across northern Vietnam, moving from the capital's history to karst landscapes and mountain villages. You cover a lot of ground, but the pace leaves room to actually take things in.
Start in Hanoi before heading to Hoa Lu, Vietnam's ancient first capital, to see its old relics. From there you move through the limestone karsts and rice paddies known as 'Halong Bay on Land' before boarding a boat to cruise the real thing.
A trek in Sapa brings you into contact with Hmong and other hill tribe communities, a contrast to the coastal and lowland scenery earlier in the trip.
