About this trip
Eighteen days across Mexico, Belize and Guatemala, moving from ancient Maya ruins to lagoons, reefs, cloud forest and an active volcano. It's a proper regional circuit rather than a one-country trip, with a lot of ground covered and a lot of variety packed in.
You start in Mexico with Chichen Itza, the Tulum ruins and the lagoon at Bacalar, then cross into Belize for reef and island time on Caye Caulker. From there it's on to Guatemala for Tikal, the waterfalls and caves around Coban, the highlands, Lake Atitlán, and a finish that includes a sunrise hike and an overnight climb up Acatenango to watch Fuego volcano.
It suits people who want ruins, water and mountains in one trip and don't mind an itinerary that keeps moving.
