About this trip
Nine days split between Lisbon and Madeira, built around the idea that Portugal rewards both city wandering and time outdoors. You get a guided introduction to Lisbon, then time to explore on your own before heading out to the coast and countryside.
In Lisbon you cover the castle, the cobbled streets of Bairro Alto and the Mercado da Ribeira, with a day trip out to Sintra, Cascais and Evora and an evening of Fado and dinner. Getting around the city is mostly on foot or by tram.
The second half moves to Madeira, where the pace slows down. Expect coastal views, gardens and promenades in Funchal, with the option to add levada walks, hikes or water-based activities if you want to be more active.
