About this trip
Eleven days across northern and eastern China, moving between capital-city landmarks and smaller ancient towns that most short trips skip. You travel by high-speed train throughout, so the distances between stops are covered in comfort rather than eaten up by flights.
Beijing opens things up with the big three — Tian'anmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Great Wall — before you head to Datong and Pingyao for grottoes, hanging temples, and old courtyard streets with a slower, more local feel. Xi'an brings the Terracotta Warriors and a look at everyday traditions, and Shanghai closes the trip with its mix of historic gardens and modern skyline.
It's built as an easy-paced, partially guided trip, with private options and family-friendly timing, including departures over Christmas and New Year.
