About this trip
Fourteen days across Vietnam and Thailand, moving from Hanoi's old quarter through Halong Bay and the mountains of Sapa, down to the Mekong Delta, then over to Thailand and finishing on Phuket's beaches.
It's a broad sweep of the region — cities, limestone bays, hill country, river life and coast — so you get a real mix of pace and scenery rather than settling into one place.
Part of the trip is guided and part is left more open, and it's built with families and groups in mind, so there's structure around the bigger sights with some flexibility built in.
What you'll do
- Cruise the limestone karsts of Halong Bay
- Trek through the mountains around Sapa
- Explore the waterways and markets of the Mekong Delta
- Wander Hanoi's old quarter
- Cross into Thailand for cultural sites
- Wind down on the beaches of Phuket
- Partially guided — some days are led, others more independent
- Covers two countries and a lot of ground, so expect regular changes of scene rather than long stays in one spot
Worth it if you want a well-paced, comfort-focused sweep of Vietnam and Thailand's main hits with strong guides. Think twice if you're a picky eater, don't enjoy hiking, or expect dramatic cultural immersion.
- Guides consistently praised as professional, passionate, and genuinely helpful across multiple locations throughout.
- Itinerary covers legitimate highlights—Sapa trekking, Halong Bay overnight, Mekong Delta, Bangkok temples, Phuket beaches—without feeling rushed.
- Three days in Sapa with 6-hour round-trip travel for limited hiking time frustrated at least one traveller significantly.
- Vietnamese and Thai cuisine leans pork-heavy; limited dietary variety or pork-free options became monotonous for some.
