About this trip
Seven days cycling across Cambodia, from the busy streets of Phnom Penh to the temples of Angkor near Siem Reap. Rather than rushing between the two cities, you cover the distance by bike, on quiet backroads and jungle trails where you actually see the country rather than glimpse it through a window.
Expect rural scenery, small villages, and a slower pace that gives you time to take in the countryside and talk to people along the way. The ride builds towards Angkor Wat, arguably the highlight of any Cambodia trip, made more satisfying for having pedalled your way there.
What you'll do
- Cycle quiet backroads and jungle trails between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap
- Explore Phnom Penh's city sights before setting off
- Ride through Cambodian villages and countryside
- Stop at viewpoints along minor roads en route
- Arrive at Angkor Wat and explore its temples
- Moderate pace — this is a cycling trip, so daily distances matter more than in a standard tour
- Suited to families and groups comfortable riding across several consecutive days
- Available over Christmas and New Year as well as other dates
Worth it if you're reasonably fit and want authentic rural cycling with strong local guides. Think twice if you need lots of downtime—the itinerary is packed and hotels get mixed time.
- Local guides like Sum and Rith are genuinely knowledgeable, passionate, and eat the same food as you—not generic tour commentary.
- You'll cycle 40–50 km per day through villages and countryside, hitting Angkor temples, Killing Fields, and floating villages in seven days.
- The itinerary packs a lot in; several reviewers wished for more time to properly enjoy the hotels rather than rushing between sites.
- Requires good fitness level; routes include lush countryside and challenging terrain, not leisurely pedalling.
