About this trip
Four days in Ushuaia, at the southern tip of Argentina, built around the landscape rather than a packed itinerary. You're based in a town where snow-capped peaks, wild forest and the Beagle Channel meet, with time to get out into it properly.
Days centre on a boat trip along the Beagle Channel and a trek through Tierra del Fuego National Park, with Patagonia's mix of mountains, forest and water always in view.
Day 3 is flexible: add an off-road excursion out to Patagonia's lakes, or take the day at your own pace.
What you'll do
- Sail the Beagle Channel past islands thick with wildlife
- Trek through Tierra del Fuego National Park
- Optional off-road drive out to hidden Patagonian lakes, lunch included
- Free day at your leisure in Ushuaia if you skip the off-road option
- Short four-day trip, best suited to those adding it onto a longer South America itinerary
- Day 3 is a choice between a paid off-road excursion or unstructured free time
- Room type (single, double or triple) depends on how many are travelling together
Worth it if you speak Spanish or accept minimal English guidance. Think twice if communication breakdowns and patchy hotel standards are dealbreakers.
- Mixed-language tours leave English speakers isolated. One traveller was left alone on a penguin boat with no one waiting on return.
- Promised day 1 and day 4 transfers did not materialize; hotel Los Yamanos was noisy, temperature-unstable, and poorly staffed.
- Tour Radar guides, itinerary planning, and vendor responsiveness consistently praised. Staff flexible and proactive when changes needed.
- Hotel quality varies; Los Ñiros pleasant but 15 minutes from centre. Set expectations low on accommodation standards.
