About this trip
This ten-day loop starts and ends in Palermo, taking you through some of Sicily's UNESCO-listed towns and landscapes at a steady, fully guided pace.
Along the way you'll take in panoramic viewpoints, historic art and architecture, and stop in at Segesta and Erice, with wine and food tastings and several meals built into the schedule.
You'll base yourself in centrally located 4-star hotels in Palermo, Catania/Acitrezza, Ragusa and Agrigento as you move around the island.
What you'll do
- Explore the ancient site of Segesta
- Wander the hilltop town of Erice
- Base yourself in Catania with time in Acitrezza
- Visit Ragusa, one of Sicily's baroque UNESCO towns
- Take in Agrigento's historic sites
- Join wine and food tastings of local specialties along the route
- Group size varies and departures run regardless of numbers booked
- Guided in English, Italian and Spanish, except April, May, September and October when it runs in English only
- Accommodation is in 4-star hotels in central locations throughout
Worth it if you prepay entrance fees, book direct with Soleto, and accept large groups. Think twice if you need seamless pre-tour communication or prefer groups under 30.
- Guide Luna on Erice/Segesta day trip was exceptionally knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Sicilian history and culture.
- Pre-tour document delays were severe; one group made 5 calls over weeks before receiving itineraries day-before departure.
- Groups ballooned to 50 people with multiple agencies merged together, causing confusion over entrance fees, hotel assignments, and guide accountability.
- Entrance fees and hotel taxes are not included despite being standard in comparable tours; clarify costs upfront or prepay packages.
