About this trip
Three days out of Glasgow through some of Scotland's best known landscapes, ending up on the Isle of Skye before looping back via Loch Ness. You're on the coach with a guide for most of it, moving through a lot of scenery in a short time.
The route takes in Loch Lomond, Glencoe and Rannoch Moor on the way north, then a full day around Skye itself, before heading back through Fort Augustus and along Loch Ness. It's a lot of ground covered, with the guide filling in the history and stories behind what you're passing.
This suits you if you want a taste of the Highlands and Skye without organising the driving yourself, and you're happy with a fair amount of time on the coach between stops.
What you'll do
- Stop at the conservation village of Luss on Loch Lomond
- Drive through Glencoe and across Rannoch Moor
- See the Old Man of Storr and Kilt Rock on Skye
- Visit Dunvegan Castle and explore Portree
- Stop at Eilean Donan Castle
- Pass Loch Ness on the way back via Fort Augustus
- Fast-paced — three days cover a lot of distance with plenty of coach time
- Departs Glasgow at 10:15
Worth it if you get a stellar guide and logistics run smoothly. Think twice if reliability matters more than hoping for the best.
- Guides like Seumas, Paul, and David elevate the tour with deep local knowledge, genuine warmth, and flexibility to add unscheduled stops.
- Coach breakdowns and driver mishaps have left travellers stranded or arriving hours late with minimal compensation offered by the company.
- Scottish weather is unpredictable; rain and wind are real, but good guides spin it into a proper Highland experience.
- Accommodation in Portree on Skye and the itinerary itself consistently impress; venues feel authentic and views genuinely stunning.
