About this trip
Three days out of Edinburgh through the Highlands, with two nights based in Inverness so you're not packing up every morning. It's a coach tour, so the miles between castles, lochs and coastline are handled for you while you look out the window.
The route takes in some of Scotland's best-known scenery — Eilean Donan Castle, the jagged landscapes of Skye, and Loch Ness with its monster stories. There's time built in for photo stops and short walks rather than just driving past.
Good for a first look at the Highlands without organising a car or route yourself, especially if you're short on time but want to cover a lot of ground.
What you'll do
- See Eilean Donan Castle, the 13th-century castle on its own island
- Explore Skye's Kilt Rock, Mealt Falls, the Old Man of Storr and Portree
- Visit Loch Ness and the ruins of Urquhart Castle
- Option to spot Nessie on a Jacobite cruise
- Optional visit to Culloden Battlefield
- Two nights in Inverness as your base
- Long single day covering Skye highlights, so expect early starts and full days on the coach
- Pickup is 8.30am on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, returning around 7pm
- Some highlights (Eilean Donan interior, Jacobite cruise, Culloden) are optional extras, not automatically included
Worth it if you want Scottish Highlands essentials covered well with strong guides. Think twice if you need flexibility—itineraries can shift mid-tour based on group preferences.
- Guides (Craig, Lee, Stephen, Ben, Alex, Chris) consistently praised for knowledge, storytelling, humour and genuine passion about Highland history.
- Covers major sights—Loch Lomond, Loch Ness, Glencoe, Skye, Culloden—without feeling rushed; frequent stops break up lengthy bus time effectively.
- One reviewer reported itinerary changed multiple times mid-tour due to one couple's requests, causing frustration and unpredictability.
- B&B accommodation clean with hearty hot breakfasts; significant daily bus time is the trade-off for covering this much ground in three days.
