Cappadocia from/to Istanbul w/cave hotel+optional balloon

Start & end in Istanbul 3 days Up to 12

About this trip

Three days in Cappadocia, flying out from Istanbul and back, based in a cave hotel carved into the region's soft volcanic rock. It's a compact tour that covers the region's best-known sights without you having to plan the logistics.

You'll walk through the Goreme Open Air Museum, Zelve and the surreal rock formations at Pasabagi and Devrent Valley, then head underground into the old cave cities once used as refuges by early Christians. There's also a stop to try your hand at pottery with a local craftsperson, and proper Turkish cooking in traditional restaurants along the way.

A hot air balloon flight over the fairy chimneys is offered as an optional extra, weather permitting.

What you'll do

  • Explore the rock-cut churches of Goreme Open Air Museum
  • Wander the fairy chimneys of Zelve, Pasabagi and Devrent Valley
  • Descend into an underground city built by early Christian communities
  • Stop at Pigeon Valley and the Panorama Esentepe viewpoint for fairy chimney views
  • Try pottery making with a local expert
  • Sleep in a cave hotel
Good to know
  • Balloon flight over Cappadocia is optional and not included in the base package
  • Partially guided, moderate pace over a short three-day window
  • Flights from and to Istanbul are part of the package
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want hassle-free logistics, good guides, and iconic Cappadocia sights bundled together. Think twice if you need deep exploration time or perfectionist hotel room assignments.

  • Door-to-door transfers from Istanbul hotel through flights, Cappadocia tours, and back removes navigation stress entirely.
  • Cave hotel stays are genuinely special; one reviewer's room included an ensuite sauna and was described as amazing.
  • Early departures and photo-stop-heavy itineraries leave limited time to properly explore individual sites at your own pace.
  • Site entry fees aren't included and must be paid separately in lira or to the guide in multiple currencies.
