About this trip
Twelve days across southern and central Mongolia, moving between desert, steppe and mountain landscapes that most visitors never get near. You sleep in ger camps throughout, including a stay beside a yak herder family in the Orkhon Valley.
The route takes in the Gobi Desert's Singing Dunes and Flaming Cliffs before heading north to Karakorum, once the capital of the Mongol empire, and the UNESCO-listed nomadic heartlands around it.
Days are well-paced with free afternoons built in, so there's room to walk, sit with local families, or just take in the scale of the place. Suits a wide range of ages and fitness levels.
