About this trip
Fifteen days across Norway, Sweden and Finland, taking in three capitals and some of the biggest fjords in Europe. You move by public transport between Oslo, Bergen, Stockholm and Helsinki, with time built in to walk each city properly rather than just tick it off.
Expect a mix of Viking and maritime history, city culture, and a stretch of quieter countryside where you get a feel for the Swedish idea of lagom — living well without excess.
There's a fair amount of free time throughout, alongside regular orientation walks with your leader, so the pace suits people happy to explore independently once they've got their bearings.
What you'll do
- Walk the streets of Oslo and Bergen with your leader
- Sail through Norway's fjords
- Explore Stockholm's old town and waterfront
- Spend time in Helsinki
- Learn about Viking history and Scandinavian maritime heritage
- Experience the slower pace of the Swedish countryside
- You'll travel by public transport with limited storage, so pack light enough to lift into racks and carry over cobbles and stairs yourself
- Nights can be cold even outside deep winter, so bring proper layers
- Scandinavia is expensive, especially eating out — your leader can help you budget
Cheapest live departure per day, in £, recorded by our tracker since 18 Jul. Never a brochure “was” price.
Worth it if you value small-group independence, excellent guides, and Nordic scenery. Think twice if you're budget-conscious or expect dramatic landscapes.
- Guides like Hrvoje and Cameron genuinely elevate the trip with local knowledge and character.
- Nearly everyone got sick at some point during the 15 days—a real physical toll on enjoyment.
- Excellent mix: Oslo-Bergen train, fjord cruises, kayaking, city exploration, and accessible outdoor activities.
- Small group cruises may separate couples into different rooms; request cabin pairing ahead to avoid surprises.
