About this trip
Nine days across South Korea taking in the DMZ, mountain trails and two very different cities, Seoul and Busan. It moves at a fair pace, mixing history, food and scenery rather than settling in one place.
Expect a proper Korean BBQ feast, a night in a traditional hanok house, and time in Busan's colourful hillside village and seaside temple. There's real walking involved, so this suits travellers who don't mind being on their feet.
What you'll do
- Visit the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ)
- Hike through Seoraksan Mountain
- Eat at an all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ restaurant
- Sleep a night in a traditional Hanok house
- Wander Gamcheong Culture Village in Busan
- See Haedong Temple and hear the stories of Busan's Haenyeo divers
- Involves a good amount of walking, so a reasonable level of fitness and comfortable shoes are recommended
- You'll need to manage your own luggage on metros and through busy transport hubs, so pack light
- Doesn't spend much time in Seoul itself — worth asking about extra nights there if you want to explore it fully
