West Coast & Karijini Adventure

Perth → Exmouth 12 days Up to 12

About this trip

Twelve days through Western Australia, from Perth up the coast and inland to Karijini National Park, covering some genuinely varied terrain — desert, gorges, reef and a beach made of shells.

You'll be on the move a fair bit, with long drives between stops, but the landscapes do the work of keeping things interesting. Expect canoeing, snorkelling, gorge walks and time learning from Traditional Custodians about the region's First Nations history.

This is one for people who want to get outdoors and cover ground rather than sit still. Days are active and distances are big, in keeping with how vast Western Australia actually is.

What you'll do

  • Walk through the Pinnacles Desert
  • Canoe along the Murchison River and see the Pink Hutt Lagoon
  • Look for turtles and dolphins at Shell Beach
  • Snorkel Ningaloo Reef
  • Hike Karijini's gorges, including Joffre, Hancock's Kermit Pool and Spider Wall, and Kalamina
  • Learn from Traditional Custodians about the area's First Nations history
Good to know
  • Moderate to good fitness needed — walking and hiking feature throughout, so bring sturdy shoes
  • Expect a few long travel days given the distances involved in Western Australia
  • Temperatures swing from very hot days to cold nights, so pack for both and think about timing your trip accordingly
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value guide quality and landscape access over budget accommodation. Think twice if you're price-sensitive or need consistent professionalism across all staff.

  • Guides like Flick and Sue deliver genuine expertise on wildlife, history, and landscapes with warm, flexible problem-solving.
  • Pricing inconsistency is stark: same tour costs €1800–€2300, with one traveller paying 28% more for identical experiences.
  • Two swag nights lack facilities, lunches are wrap-based fillers, and one reviewer raised concerns about guide driving distraction and group tension.
  • Shared dorms and basic catering offset by genuine landscapes and memorable group dynamics, though hygiene of kitchen storage flagged as poor.
