About this trip
Eight days through Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, taking in three capital cities along with a stretch of Estonian countryside near Soomaa National Park. It's a fully guided, easy-paced trip built around walking historic old towns and getting a feel for how these three countries differ from each other.
You start in Vilnius, work your way to Riga, then finish in Tallinn, with a break from cities at the edge of the forest near Soomaa. Along the way there's time for local food, from a Latvian market feast to a shared Estonian meal with the group.
This is sightseeing-focused travel with a group and a guide throughout, moving between historic centres and quieter rural areas rather than sticking to the obvious tourist stops.
What you'll do
- Wander Vilnius Old Town and learn about its recent history
- See Riga's Art Nouveau architecture and eat your way round the Central Market
- Spend time near the forest at Soomaa National Park
- Share a meal of traditional Estonian dishes with the group
- Explore Tallinn's medieval old town
- You'll carry your own luggage between train and bus stations and hotels, sometimes up and down stairs and over cobblestones, so pack light
- Easy pace overall, mixing city sightseeing with a quieter rural stop
Worth it if you want curated Baltic highlights with a strong guide. Think twice if you prefer independence or dislike long travel days to remote spots.
- Most guides were excellent, knowledgeable and genuinely kind; group dynamics felt relaxed and supportive.
- Good balance of structured activities and free time; comfortable private vans and localized hotels beat expectations.
- Island day trips can mean full day travel, basic accommodation and unexpected extra costs for local guides.
- Guide quality varies significantly; one reviewer reported negative commentary about locals that others didn't experience.
