About this trip
Twelve days across Guatemala and Belize, taking in ancient Mayan ruins, jungle, and some of the clearest water in the Caribbean.
You start on Caye Caulker in Belize, an island with no cars and a slow pace, before moving on to Guatemala's colonial streets and then out to the ruins themselves, where temples rise straight out of the jungle canopy.
It's a small group trip with shared rooms throughout, built around swimming, snorkelling, and exploring rather than sitting on a coach.
What you'll do
- Snorkel the reefs around Caye Caulker
- Wander the colonial streets of a Guatemalan town
- Swim in jungle caves
- Explore Mayan ruins rising out of the jungle
- Island time on Caye Caulker's car-free streets
- Crosses two countries in 12 days, so expect a fair amount of movement between them
- Shared rooms throughout
- Suits travellers who want swimming, jungle, and ruins over beach downtime
Worth it if you want a well-guided cultural and social experience. Think twice if you prefer a leisurely pace—the itinerary feels compressed toward the end.
- Eve's guide work was genuinely exceptional—consistently praised as organised, kind, informative, and brilliant at group energy.
- Final stretch feels rushed with one night each in Flores, Panajachel, and a homestay before Antigua.
- Strong mix of culture and social experience; travellers made lasting friendships and felt safe throughout.
- Flying Flores to Guatemala City streamlines travel logistics meaningfully compared to overland alternatives.
