About this trip
This 8-day route runs the length of Morocco, from the souks and squares of Marrakesh out to the desert and up through the imperial cities to the Atlantic coast.
You'll take in the kasbah village of Ait Benhaddou, the dunes at Merzouga, the medina of Fes and the blue-washed lanes of Chefchaouen, before finishing via Rabat and Casablanca.
It's a partially guided trip, so you get local guidance at the key sights but some flexibility along the way, staying in 4-star superior hotels throughout.
What you'll do
- Wander the markets and squares of Marrakesh
- Visit the historic kasbah village of Ait Benhaddou
- See the dunes of Merzouga in the Sahara
- Explore the imperial city of Fes
- Walk the blue streets of Chefchaouen
- Finish in Rabat and Casablanca
- Partially guided — expect a mix of guided visits and free time
- You change base regularly, covering a lot of ground across Morocco
- Accommodation is 4-star superior throughout
Worth it if you're keen on Morocco's culture and can handle long van days with a stellar guide-driver pairing. Think twice if budget hotels matter—the Novotel Hivernage is genuinely shabby.
- Guide and driver make or break it: Brahim, Mohammed, Aziz, Majed consistently praised for knowledge, safety, humour and going above expectations.
- Novotel Hivernage in Marrakesh is filthy and broken: mouldy shower, hard bed, smelly pillows, rooms 10 years overdue refurbishment.
- Expect very long van days between sites, but frequent stops and good company make them manageable and worthwhile.
- Most other hotels excellent, especially Dar Rihana in Dades Valley: clean, well-situated, owners genuinely eager to please.
