About this trip

Twelve days moving through Vietnam from north to south, taking in Hanoi, the hill country around Sapa, the old imperial city of Hue and finishing in Ho Chi Minh City.

The middle stretch is the most hands-on part, with treks through ethnic villages around Sapa and a more immersive stop in the village of Thuy Bieu near Hue, where you cook, cycle and try your hand at traditional joss paper making.

It ends with a Jeep tour around Ho Chi Minh City's main historic sites, a fitting last look at the country's more recent history before you head home.

What you'll do

  • Trek through the villages of Ta Van, Giang Ta Chai and the remote Ta Giang Phin near Sapa, with views over terraced rice fields
  • Cook traditional dishes and visit an ancestral home in the village of Thuy Bieu, Hue
  • Learn joss paper making with a local family
  • Cycle scenic paths around Thuy Bieu
  • Jeep tour of Ho Chi Minh City taking in the Independence Palace, War Remnants Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Old Post Office
