About this trip
This is a straightforward north-to-south route through Vietnam, taking in the country's best-known landmarks over 11 days without lingering too long anywhere.
You start in Hanoi before heading out to the limestone karsts of Ninh Binh and Halong Bay, then move on to Hue's old imperial sites and the ancient town of Hoi An. The journey ends in Ho Chi Minh City, with time for the Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta.
It's a good fit if you want a broad first look at Vietnam's history, landscapes and food, covering a lot of ground in a fairly easy, organised way.
What you'll do
- Cruise the limestone karsts of Halong Bay
- Explore Hue's Imperial citadel and royal tombs
- Drive the coastal road from Hue to Hoi An
- Take a Vietnamese cooking class in the Hoi An countryside
- Walk through the Cu Chi tunnels
- Cruise the canals of the Mekong Delta
- Covers a lot of the country, so you'll change location frequently
- Partially guided, so some days give you room to explore independently
- Rated easy, suited to a relaxed pace of travel
Worth it if you want a well-paced, activity-rich introduction to Vietnam with reliable logistics. Think twice if you prefer slower travel or aren't keen on group cycling and boat activities.
- Activities genuinely varied—cycling rice fields, cooking classes, basket boats, overnight Ha Long Bay cruise keep momentum high.
- Guides named Long and Linh actively explained cultural context and stayed attentive throughout; transfers consistently on time.
- Hotels positioned near main sights, leaving evenings free; 11 days covers north to south without feeling rushed.
- No reviews mention costs, hidden extras, or group dynamics; assumes fitness for cycling and comfort with early starts.
