About this trip
This 8-day tour covers India's classic Golden Triangle — Delhi, Jaipur and Agra — timed to coincide with Holi, the Festival of Colours. You'll be based in 4-star hotels throughout and travel as part of a small group with a guide leading the way.
Delhi mixes old and new, from Mughal-era monuments to modern city life, while Agra centres on the Taj Mahal and its surrounding Mughal architecture. Jaipur is where Holi itself takes centre stage, with the city turning into a mass of colour, music and street celebration.
It's a straightforward, easy-paced culture trip built around ticking off major sights, with the Holi festivities in Jaipur as the clear highlight rather than an add-on.
What you'll do
- Take a rickshaw ride through the streets of Old Delhi
- Get a henna tattoo in Delhi
- Ride an elephant at Amber Fort in Jaipur
- Watch sunrise over the Taj Mahal in Agra
- Celebrate Holi, the Festival of Colours, in Jaipur
- Visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites across Delhi, Jaipur and Agra
- Covers three cities in 8 days, so expect a fair amount of moving between destinations
- Timed specifically around the Holi festival dates, so the celebration itself is the centrepiece
- Stays are in 4-star hotels throughout
Worth it if you want authentic Holi immersion with reliable logistics and knowledgeable guides. Think twice if you're a woman expecting street-level Holi celebration—safety concerns mean it's hotel-based, not always clearly flagged upfront.
- Guides like Anand double as photography experts; drivers navigate chaotic streets with genuine local knowledge and friendliness.
- Holi celebrations in Jaipur were genuinely vibrant and immersive; playing gulal with locals felt authentically festive, not staged.
- Holi street celebrations kept hotel-based due to women's safety concerns; this wasn't clearly explained upfront to all travellers.
- Entrance fees at sites are separate costs—flagged in fine print but worth knowing; four-star promise occasionally delivered three-star hotels.
