About this trip
Eleven days across Tanzania's Northern Circuit, covering the parks most people picture when they think of an East African safari. You travel in a custom 4x4 with an open roof, so you're standing up for game viewing rather than peering through glass.
Groups are kept small — a maximum of six travellers per vehicle, with everyone guaranteed a window seat. The route takes in Arusha National Park, Lake Manyara, the Karatu area, Lake Eyasi, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire, giving you a real spread of landscapes and wildlife rather than one park on repeat.
Meals, accommodation and park entry fees are all included, so the days are mostly about being out in the vehicle and around camp rather than sorting logistics.
What you'll do
- Game drives with open-roof viewing across Arusha National Park and Tarangire
- Look for wildlife around Lake Manyara and Lake Eyasi
- Explore the Serengeti's open plains
- Descend into Ngorongoro Crater for concentrated game viewing
- Time in the Karatu area between park visits
- Small group setup — max 6 travellers per vehicle, everyone gets a window seat
- Long travel days are part of the deal given the number of parks covered
- Meals, accommodation and park fees are included in the price
Worth it if you want seamless wildlife viewing with genuinely excellent guides and don't mind carrying substantial cash. Think twice if steep hotel stairs or unreliable Zanzibar hotel bookings concern you.
- Guides consistently exceptional: Kitale, Israel, Samir, Festus, Bright, Shaban all singled out for knowledge, attentiveness, and finding wildlife.
- Carry far more cash than expected; most venues take cash only, not cards. Essential for tips, indigenous crafts, and remote lodge purchases.
- Zanzibar extension hotels oversold and moved guests mid-stay. Book Zanzibar separately via Viator or near Stone Town instead.
- Several hotel rooms require steep climbs; request ground floor well in advance. Staff help with bags, but physical difficulty varies by location.
