Are group tours safe for solo female travellers?
They're one of the safest ways to travel solo as a woman — you get the independence of travelling alone with a built-in group, a leader who knows the ground, and pre-arranged transport and accommodation. What a tour genuinely removes: arriving alone at night in a new city, navigating unlicensed taxis, and the "no one knows where I am" problem — someone always does. Same-gender room sharing is the default at every major youth operator, and leaders are trained (to varying standards) on harassment response.
What it doesn't remove: nights out are still nights out, and the group dynamic itself varies.
