Cultural Treasures & Natural wonders, Sri Lanka's Splendorous path

Six days across Sri Lanka's cultural heartland and hill country, taking in ancient rock fortresses, temples, tea country and a wildlife safari.

You start with the climb up Sigiriya Rock Fortress and the cave temple at Dambulla, then move on to Kandy for the Temple of the Tooth and a cultural dance show. From there it's up into the misty tea country around Nuwara Eliya before heading to Ella and finishing with a safari at Udawalawe.

It's a fairly full itinerary that covers a lot of ground in a short time, mixing archaeology, religious sites, mountain scenery and wildlife.

What you'll do

• Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress and see its frescoes and gardens
• Visit the Dambulla Cave Temple and its Buddhist murals
• Seek blessings at the Temple of the Tooth in Kandy
• Walk through Horton Plains to the World's End viewpoint
• Photograph a train crossing the Nine Arch Bridge in Ella
• Safari in Udawalawe National Park to spot elephants and leopards
