About this trip
A single day out of the city to Ninh Binh, covering the old capital, a river through limestone karst, and a viewpoint worth the climb. You travel by limousine bus, so the transfers are comfortable rather than an ordeal.
The day mixes temple visits at Hoa Lu with a boat ride through Tam Coc's caves and paddy fields, then a climb up to Mua Cave for the view over the valley. There's an optional cycling stretch if you'd rather move under your own steam for part of the day.
It's an easy, family-friendly pace suited to travellers short on time who still want to see the region's main sights in one go.
