Volcanoes, Nature & Caribbean

Nine days round trip from San Jose, taking in Costa Rica's volcanoes, rainforest and Caribbean coast. You'll walk through Arenal Volcano National Park, explore the canals and wildlife of Tortuguero, then wind down on the beaches of the southern Caribbean.

This side of the country has a distinct Afro-Caribbean character, different from the more visited Pacific coast, and the trip gives you time to notice that alongside the usual rainforest and reef stops.

It's a mix of hiking, boat travel and beach time, with a snorkelling trip along the reef thrown in — good for a small group wanting nature and some activity without a packed itinerary.
