About this trip
Two of the ancient world's biggest names in one trip, this 13-day journey takes you from Jordan's rose-red city of Petra through the desert to Egypt's pyramids and temples, ending with a Nile cruise between Luxor and Aswan.
The Jordan leg moves at an easy pace through Amman, the King's Highway, Petra, Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea, with a night in a Bedouin camp under the stars. From there you fly to Cairo and swap desert camps for a 5-star cruise ship, sailing past temples that only reveal themselves properly from the water.
Guided throughout and comfortable rather than rough, with good hotels, a proper cruise ship, and enough structure that you're not left working out logistics between two countries in one go.
What you'll do
- Walk the Siq to reach Petra's Treasury and spend a full day exploring the ancient city
- Overnight at a Bedouin camp in Wadi Rum with an included Jeep safari
- Float in the Dead Sea and try the mineral mud
- See the Great Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, and the Step Pyramid at Saqqara
- Cruise the Nile from Luxor to Aswan, stopping at Edfu and Kom Ombo temples
- Tour the Grand Egyptian Museum's Tutankhamun collection
- The Amman to Cairo flight between Jordan and Egypt isn't included in the trip cost
- Optional extras along the way include Petra by Night, camel rides, hot air ballooning, and the early morning excursion to Abu Simbel
