Absolutely Turkey (Small group tour)

Start & end in Istanbul 7 days Up to 28

About this trip

A week across Turkey's classic stops, taking in the rock landscapes of Cappadocia, the mineral terraces of Pamukkale, and Istanbul's old city, all on a fully guided small-group basis.

The pace is easy and the trip is set up with families and mixed groups in mind, so it works well if you're travelling with people of different ages or fitness levels.

A stop in Konya adds a visit to the Convent of Mevlana, home of the Whirling Dervishes, before the route continues toward Pamukkale.

What you'll do

  • Explore the rock formations and valleys of Cappadocia
  • See the white travertine terraces of Pamukkale
  • Visit the Convent of Mevlana in Konya, home of the Whirling Dervishes
  • Walk through Istanbul's old city, including Topkapı Palace on English-guided departures
  • Spanish-guided departures instead visit Balat and the Golden Horn, plus Bursa in place of Gallipoli
Good to know
  • The route differs depending on your guide language: English-guided groups go via Gallipoli and visit Topkapı Palace, Spanish-guided groups go via Bursa and visit Balat and the Golden Horn instead
  • From 1 January 2027 the tour runs one day longer, starting a day earlier, with an extra night in Konya to ease the journey from Cappadocia to Pamukkale
  • A cave hotel upgrade is available in Cappadocia if you ask when booking
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value knowledgeable guides and iconic Turkish sights like Cappadocia's hot air balloon. Think twice if you're uncomfortable with shopping stops or need relaxation time built in.

  • Guides (particularly Erdem and Oz) deliver exceptional historical knowledge that sparks post-trip research.
  • Small group size creates genuinely personal, immersive experience rather than mass-tour anonymity.
  • Mandatory stops at jewelry, carpet, and leather shops feel commercial; one reviewer was scammed $1,000.
  • Multiple very long travel days mean short hotel turnarounds; little time to use amenities.
