About this trip
Four days tracing the seven cities named in the Book of Revelation, from Ephesus to Laodicea, through what's now western Turkey. You walk the same ground the Apostle John's letters were addressed to, among ruins that show the shift from pagan temples to early Christian churches.
This is a guided route built for people who know the biblical text and want to see the places behind it, though the archaeology and history stand on their own even without that background.
What you'll do
- Walk the ruins of Ephesus, one of the best-preserved ancient cities in the region
- See the remains of Smyrna in modern Izmir
- Visit the acropolis and temple ruins at Pergamon
- Explore the sites of Thyateira, Sardis, and Philadelphia
- Finish at Laodicea, the seventh of the churches
- Suited to pilgrims and those with an interest in early Christian history, though the sites are open to any traveller
- Easy pace, guided throughout
