About this trip
An 8-day guided journey through Turkey's ancient sites, run at an easy pace and suited to families and groups alike. It takes in Cappadocia, Pamukkale, and Istanbul, with the route shaped a little differently depending on your guide's language.
From 2027 the itinerary gains an extra day and an overnight stop in Konya, home to the Convent of Mevlana, founder of the Whirling Dervishes, easing the journey between Cappadocia and Pamukkale.
English-guided groups head to Istanbul via Gallipoli, taking in Topkapı Palace once there, while Spanish-guided groups instead pass through Bursa and explore Istanbul's Balat district and the Golden Horn.
What you'll do
- Explore the landscapes of Cappadocia
- Visit Pamukkale's terraces on the way to Konya
- See the Convent of Mevlana in Konya (from 2027 itineraries)
- Walk the Gallipoli battlefields en route to Istanbul (English-guided tours)
- Tour Topkapı Palace in Istanbul (English-guided tours)
- Wander Balat and the Golden Horn in Istanbul (Spanish-guided tours)
- From 1 January 2027 the tour runs a day longer, starting a day earlier, with an added night in Konya
- English and Spanish guided departures follow different routes after Çanakkale — via Gallipoli or Bursa respectively
- A cave hotel upgrade in Cappadocia is available on request
Worth it if you want knowledgeable guides and comfortable transport covering Turkey's highlights. Think twice if mediocre hotel standards bother you or you dislike intense pacing.
- Guides Zeynep and Taner were genuinely knowledgeable storytellers who made ancient sites feel fresh even for repeat visitors.
- Drivers Mehmet and Ahmet earned specific praise for safe, comfortable navigation and suggesting local eateries and scenic stops.
- Hotel quality was inconsistent; Ankara accommodation was mediocre whilst others were comfortable, so standards vary by location.
- Eight days covers a lot of ground rapidly, which some found exhilarating but others might find exhausting despite free time slots.
