About this trip
This is a road trip along South Africa's Garden Route, covering the stretch between Cape Town and the Eastern Cape over 12 days. You'll move through cities, wine country, coastline, and forest, with a proper safari built into the middle of it.
Expect a mix of scenery and wildlife — Table Mountain views over Cape Town, vineyards around Stellenbosch, whales off Hermanus (season dependent), and elephants at Addo. It's a guided group trip with a fair bit of ground to cover, so there's a rhythm of travel days and stop-off days.
Good for anyone who wants South Africa's classic route done properly, without organising transport and accommodation themselves.
What you'll do
- See Table Mountain from Cape Town
- Taste wines in the Stellenbosch region's vineyards
- Spot elephant herds on safari in Addo Elephant National Park
- Overnight in Tsitsikamma National Park on the coast
- Look out for migrating whales at Hermanus
- Rated moderate pace — a road trip with regular changes of location
- Whale sightings at Hermanus depend on migration timing, not guaranteed
- Fully guided throughout, so logistics are handled for you
Worth it if you love outdoor thrills, wildlife and wine in one sweep. Think twice if you need flexibility—logistics can be tight and some iconic spots get cut.
- Table Mountain hike, zip-lining, kayaking and game drives genuinely deliver; views and wildlife encounters widely praised.
- Guide quality makes a real difference; standout guides like Vern go extra miles, pre-dawn game drives, day swaps.
- Itinerary cuts popular sites; Robben Island and Botanic Gardens missed. Road closures and events can scramble logistics.
- Table Mountain hike is physically demanding but consensus says views justify the effort; rain doesn't spoil the experience.
