About this trip
This is an eleven-day route through Delhi, Jaipur, Agra, Ranthambhore and Varanasi, covering the classic Mughal and Rajput sights alongside a tiger reserve and the ghats of the Ganges.
It runs at a steady pace with private transport between stops, so you're guided through the main monuments and markets without having to sort out logistics yourself.
Expect a mix of forts, palaces and bazaars, a safari in Ranthambhore, and a very different register in Varanasi, where the pace slows and the focus shifts to the river and its rituals.
What you'll do
- See the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort
- Explore Jaipur's palaces and old city bazaars
- Take a safari drive through Ranthambhore National Park in search of tigers
- Watch the evening ceremonies on the ghats of the Ganges in Varanasi
- Wander Delhi's mix of Mughal-era monuments and colonial-era streets
- Private and partially guided, so some sections run with a guide and some at your own pace
- A fair amount of ground covered, with a change of base every few days
- Ranthambhore safaris depend on park availability and aren't guaranteed tiger sightings
Worth it if you want a genuinely personalised India intro with tiger sightings and a guide who listens. Think twice if you're easily overwhelmed by crowds and heat.
- Guide Sanjeev adapts the itinerary on the fly—he'll skip spicy food, pivot for Maha Kumbhmela, arrange surprise birthday cakes.
- Tiger sightings at Ranthambhore genuinely happen; multiple travellers saw them, with some seeing two in one safari.
- First-day market crowds in Delhi can feel overwhelming, especially for solo female travellers visiting India for the first time.
- Guides speak multiple languages and know which temples and forts deliver authentic local experiences, not just tourist boxes.
