Costa Rica: Volcanoes, Cloud Forests & Zip-Lines

San Jose → Monteverde 6 days Up to 24

About this trip

A six-day loop through Costa Rica's interior that mixes volcano views, cloud forest and a fair bit of adrenaline. You'll be based in hostels throughout, moving between a handful of key spots rather than racing around.

Starting with the crater of Poás Volcano, the route runs through La Fortuna, Costa Rica's adventure hub, then across Lake Arenal by boat to Monteverde, where the cloud forest zip-lines are the main event.

It's an easy-paced group trip with plenty of room for optional extras if you want to add more activities along the way.

  • Cruise across Lake Arenal by boat

What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want structured adventure without planning hassle and thrive on group energy. Think twice if you prefer a slower pace or solo flexibility.

  • Tour guides (Karol, Natalie, Esteban) were genuinely knowledgeable, fun and significantly enhanced the experience.
  • Group dynamics were strong; multiple reviewers highlighted meeting great people and valuing the roamies community aspect.
  • Fast-paced itinerary means six days feels rushed; one reviewer wished they'd stayed longer for slower exploration.
  • Accommodation and transport were decent quality and convenient, not luxe; suits 18-35s comfort expectations.
