About this trip
Three countries, twelve days, one route that keeps moving — Vietnam, Cambodia and Thailand back to back with hostels as your base each night. You start with a street food crawl through Ho Chi Minh City before swapping city noise for motorbike rides out into the Mekong Delta.
From there it's beach time on Koh Rong, a cyclo tour through Phnom Penh, and a run of markets — Siem Reap's night market and the more unusual stalls at Skun, where fried insects are on the menu if you're brave enough.
It wraps up on Khao San Road in Bangkok, ending the trip the way these things tend to end — loud, a bit chaotic, and with everyone reluctant to say goodbye.
What you'll do
- Street food crawl through Ho Chi Minh City
- Motorbike ride through the Mekong Delta
- Beach days on Koh Rong Island
- Cyclo tour around Phnom Penh
- Night market in Siem Reap and the insect stalls of Skun Market
- Final night out on Bangkok's Khao San Road
- Fast-paced — three countries in 12 days means you're rarely in one place long
- Hostel-based throughout, with a private room option
- Group trip with a fully guided setup, good for solo travellers wanting company
Worth it if you value immersive cultural education and strong group dynamics. Think twice if you need flexibility or prefer independent exploration.
- Tour guides (Kakada, Kim, Minea, Dolla, Tong) consistently elevated the trip beyond the itinerary itself through passion, knowledge, and personal connection.
- Cambodia history, particularly Khmer Rouge context, is meaningfully taught rather than surface-level; opens eyes for those with limited prior knowledge.
- Group composition across ages and nationalities creates genuine bonding; solo travellers report feeling welcomed and included throughout.
- Success heavily dependent on individual guide quality; your experience may vary significantly based on who leads your specific departure.
