Rapa Nui Experience (4Days/

Start & end in Easter Island 4 days Up to 10

About this trip

Four days on Easter Island, based in Hanga Roa, getting close to the moai and the archaeology behind them. This is Rapa Nui National Park territory — a small, remote island with an outsized concentration of ancient stone sculpture.

You'll stand in front of the carved figures at several sites, hear the theories behind why they were placed where they were, and get into some of the genuine unresolved questions archaeologists still debate. There's also time built in to just sit on a white sand beach and let it settle.

It's an easy-paced, fully guided trip, suited to families or anyone who wants the history explained rather than pieced together alone.

What you'll do

  • See the moai at Ahu Akivi and learn why they face the ocean, unlike most others on the island
  • Examine the puzzling masonry at Ahu Tahai
  • Visit the restored standing statues at Ahu Tongariki
  • Explore the volcanic quarry at Rano Raraku, where most moai were carved
  • Relax on the white sand beach at Anakena
Good to know
  • Easy-paced and fully guided, with an emphasis on explanation rather than independent exploration
  • Suits families as well as groups
  • A short, focused four days — good for a first look at the island rather than an in-depth expedition
