About this trip
Twenty-three days across Pakistan, from the crowded streets of Karachi in the south to the high valleys of Hunza and Skardu in the north. It's a proper in-depth route, taking in ancient archaeology, Mughal architecture and Sufi shrines before heading up into the mountains.
The first half is cultural and historical — Sindh and Punjab's UNESCO sites, mosques and forts. Then the trip turns north into Gilgit-Baltistan, where the pace slows and the scenery takes over: terraced valleys, turquoise lakes and peaks including Nanga Parbat.
This is a long, ground-level look at a country most people never get to see this way, with plenty of time built in for both history and landscape rather than rushing between the two.
What you'll do
- Walk the ruins of Mohenjo-Daro and the Makli Necropolis
- See the Shah Jahan Mosque and Lahore Fort
- Visit Sufi shrines including Data Darbar and Lal Shahbaz Qalandar
- Explore Baltit and Altit Forts in Hunza Valley
- Cruise Attabad Lake's turquoise waters
- Take in Skardu's bazaars and lakeshores beneath Nanga Parbat
- 23 days is a long, in-depth itinerary — best suited to those wanting real depth rather than a quick overview
- Covers both major cities and remote mountain valleys, so conditions and pace vary a lot across the trip
