About this trip
Six days through Scotland's Highlands and Islands, covering ground from Loch Ness to the far side of the Outer Hebrides. You travel by train, coach and ferry, so the scenery changes constantly — lochs, beaches, battlefields and castles all feature.
This is a small-group tour with a guide who fills the driving time with history, myths and local stories, so you get context as well as views. Isle of Skye and Glen Coe are among the stops, alongside the quieter landscapes of Lewis and Harris.
It's an easy-paced trip built around seeing a lot of Scotland without doing the driving or planning yourself.
What you'll do
- See Loch Ness and the surrounding Highland scenery
- Cross to the Isle of Lewis and Harris by ferry
- Explore Isle of Skye's coastline and villages
- Visit Glen Coe
- Stop at castles and historic battlefield sites
- Try Scotch whisky along the way
- Easy-paced and fully guided, suited to families and those who'd rather not self-drive
- Mixed transport — rail, road and ferry — so travel days involve several changes
Worth it if you want genuinely memorable Scottish landscapes with guides who actually know their stuff. Think twice if you need smooth admin and guaranteed add-ons like train trips.
- Guides consistently praised for storytelling, knowledge, and making time for proper exploration without rushing
- Scenery genuinely stunning; accommodation clean and well-located in visited towns
- Booking admin between TourRadar and operator caused issues: wrong accommodation splits, breakfast for one instead of two, unreserved train seats
- Some stops feel tight; castle visits clashed with seal boat trips, leaving guests short on time for both
