About this trip
This trip centres on the Goroka Eastern Highlands Cultural Festival, one of Papua New Guinea's largest gatherings of tribal groups, held over the three-day weekend closest to Independence Day on September 16th.
You'll spend time among more than 140 groups from across the Highlands as they perform traditional song and dance in full costume, with plenty of room to wander the festival field and take your own photos and video.
The trip also includes a day out to see the Asaro Mudmen, one of PNG's more recognisable cultural traditions, giving some context beyond the festival itself.
