About this trip
This nine-day ride takes you from Bangkok down through Southern Thailand's limestone karst country to the Andaman Coast, mixing daily cycling with time to take in some genuinely striking scenery.
You start with an overnight train south, then pedal through ancient forests and past towering limestone peaks, with stops to explore Khao Sok National Park on foot and freewheel down to the coast for some beach time.
The route finishes inland at Phang Nga Bay before wrapping up in Ao Nang, giving you a proper feel for this part of the country rather than just ticking off sights from a bus window.
What you'll do
- Overnight train south from Bangkok to start the route
- Cycle past limestone karst peaks and emerald waters dotted with small rock islands
- Walk dirt trails in Khao Sok National Park looking for wildlife
- Freewheel down to the Andaman Coast for beach time
- Ride inland to Phang Nga Bay
- Finish in the beachside town of Ao Nang
- Distances are short and terrain mostly flat, but the heat means you'll still want a reasonable level of fitness
- A support vehicle is on hand if you need a break from the saddle
- Riding is mainly on sealed roads with some gravel paths — no technical skills needed, but some downhill practice beforehand helps
Worth it if you value excellent guides, well-organised logistics, and a balanced mix of cycling with cultural immersion. Think twice if you expect high-end accommodation or want longer, harder riding days.
- Guides consistently brilliant—Issy, Noon, Mr Black, Nathan genuinely knowledgeable, organised, and attentive throughout.
- Support team exceptional; minivan stops traffic safely, blue table appears with fresh snacks and drinks at every rest.
- Accommodation quality patchy; some hotels remote with little to do, and post-trip bookings downgraded without proper notice.
- Cycling graded easy-to-moderate with frequent stops; not for riders wanting longer distances or harder physical challenge.
