About this trip
Twelve days across Tunisia, taking in waterfront medinas, Roman ruins, mountains and the edge of the Sahara. It's a trip that moves through a lot of different landscapes without feeling rushed, from coast to desert to underground cave dwellings.
You'll walk through historic sites without the crowds you'd get elsewhere in the Mediterranean, eat food shaped by centuries of North African, Italian and Spanish influence, and spend time with people who live and work in these places, including local female artisans and Amazigh guides in the desert.
The Sahara stretch is a highlight in itself, trekking by day and camping under the stars at night, with a proper fixed camp rather than basic bivouac. Add in salt lakes, oases and a couple of nights underground, and it's a trip that shows you a side of Tunisia most visitors don't see.
