About this trip

Two weeks through Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, well away from the usual Central Asia routes. This is a small-group trip built around landscapes and local life rather than headline sights.

You trek through the Jeti-Oguz valley, explore the rock formations of Skazka Canyon and spend a night in a yurt, getting a real sense of how people live across these three countries.

It's fully guided throughout, with a mix of private and shared rooms depending on where you're staying.

What you'll do

  • Trek through the Jeti-Oguz valley
  • Walk through Skazka (Fairytale) Canyon
  • Spend a night sleeping in a traditional yurt
  • Travel overland across Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan
  • Meet local communities along the way
Good to know
  • Covers three countries in 14 days, so expect a fair amount of travel between stops
  • Accommodation mixes private and shared rooms, including one night in a yurt
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want dramatic landscapes, skilled drivers, and genuine local warmth across Central Asia. Think twice if you need comfortable facilities, clear pre-trip information, or guides who pace group hikes carefully.

  • Locals are genuinely kind, polite and helpful; you'll feel safe everywhere, even big cities.
  • Drivers are skilled and experienced; the pace feels relaxed despite covering four countries in two weeks.
  • Yurt accommodation had three toilets and one cold-water shower for 40 people; bins overflowed.
  • Guide information sometimes unclear and he seemed annoyed when asked for clarification; hiking pace left slower walkers behind.
