About this trip
Nine days through Zimbabwe and South Africa in search of lions, leopards, rhinos, elephants and buffalo, taking in three of the region's best-known wildlife areas: Hwange, Kruger and Matobo National Parks.
This is an overland trip, travelling in a purpose-built truck with the group, camping most nights and pitching your own tent. Some stops are remote with no facilities, and the trucks have no air conditioning, just sliding windows for the breeze and the view.
Beyond the parks, you'll spend time in a traditional Limpopo village, visit the Black Mambas anti-poaching unit, and pass through Pretoria. Expect long drive days and early starts, with the journey itself as much a part of the experience as the destinations.

Worth it if you want knowledgeable guides and dramatic scenery across two countries. Think twice if you dislike long driving days, need luxury accommodation, or join mid-tour.
- Guides consistently praised as knowledgeable and excellent; strong staff across the board.
- Long vehicle days limit actual time to experience destinations; heavy driving schedule felt rushed.
- Joining an established group at day five puts newcomers at a disadvantage; some felt less integrated by guides.
- Marketing and itinerary descriptions don't always match reality; check specifics on activity balance before booking.
