About this trip
Twelve days moving the length of Vietnam, from the pace and history of Ho Chi Minh City up through the Mekong Delta, the old trading town of Hoi An, imperial Hue and finally the limestone islands of Halong Bay.
It's a guided run through Vietnam's big cultural landmarks — war history, UNESCO sites, imperial tombs — mixed with slower moments like river cruises, a village of traditional boatbuilders, and a night sleeping out on Halong Bay.
Good for a first proper look at the country: you get the war history, the imperial history, and a decent stretch of food and coastline along the way.
What you'll do
- Explore the Cu Chi Tunnels on a guided tour from Ho Chi Minh City
- Cruise the Mekong Delta and see local river life up close
- Visit the UNESCO-listed My Son Sanctuary ruins
- Wander Hoi An's old town and take a boat trip to the woodworking village of Kim Bong
- Tour Hue's Imperial Citadel and Thien Mu Pagoda, with a lunch of local beef noodle soup
- Spend a night on a Halong Bay cruise, exploring caves and beaches by boat
- Covers a lot of ground — you'll change base regularly as you move between cities and regions
- Includes one overnight stay on a boat during the Halong Bay cruise
- Fully guided throughout, with a mix of city tours, boat trips and cultural visits
Worth it if you value seamless logistics, knowledgeable guides, and iconic sights. Think twice if you expect a cohesive group bond or want to avoid shopping-focused stops.
- Danny and the ground team deliver exceptional support—airport transfers, real-time problem-solving, and constant availability throughout.
- Itinerary covers the classics well: Ho Chi Minh, Mekong Delta, Hoi An, Hue, Hanoi, Halong Bay with strong local guides at each stop.
- This is loose day-trip collection, not a bonded group tour. Solo travellers mixed daily; you won't necessarily befriend your cohort or stay together.
- Shopping stops at craft stores feel obligatory and sales-focused rather than educational; expect mild pressure to purchase.
