Chachapoyas, Treasure of the North, Private Tour

Four days in Chachapoyas, a remote pocket of the high Andes that stayed off the map for most travellers until recently. This was the territory of the Chachapoyas civilisation, the so-called Warriors of the Clouds, and the region is thick with the ruins and burial sites they left behind.

Not much is actually known about who they were, which makes wandering their old fortresses and tombs feel more like exploration than a history lecture. The setting does a lot of the work too — cloud forest, deep valleys, and ridge-top ruins with views to match.
