About this trip
A short, guided introduction to Bhutan that covers the two places most visitors come for: Thimphu and Paro. Over four days you get a mix of city sightseeing, valley exploring and one proper hike.
You'll take in Thimphu's landmarks and everyday life before heading back to Paro for the highlight of the trip, the climb up to Tiger's Nest Monastery on its cliffside above the valley.
Meals are full board with traditional Bhutanese cooking, and guides handle the logistics throughout, so it works well as a compact first look at the country rather than a deep, slow-paced exploration.
What you'll do
- See the Buddha Dordenma statue and Tashichho Dzong in Thimphu
- Visit the National Memorial Chorten
- Explore Rinpung Dzong and the Ta Dzong National Museum in Paro
- Wander Paro town and its markets
- Hike up to Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest Monastery, 900 metres above Paro Valley
- Short trip at 4 days, so it suits travellers wanting a focused taste of Bhutan rather than an extended tour
- The Tiger's Nest hike is the physical centrepiece of the trip and involves a steady climb, worth being reasonably fit for
- Full board meals of traditional Bhutanese food are included throughout
