About this trip
Five days of sea kayaking through Komodo National Park, reaching beaches and coves that only a kayak can get you into. You paddle between islands, snorkel over coral reefs, and share the water with manta rays and turtles.
This is Komodo dragon territory, and you will visit the islands they call home, alongside ones with no people at all. Time is also spent on Flores, calling in on stilted villages and a remote waterfall.
It is a small-group expedition style trip with an emphasis on being self-propelled and low-impact, including picking up plastic as you go. An optional scuba add-on with two dives can be arranged for AUD$250.
What you'll do
- Sea kayak to beaches only reachable by paddle
- Snorkel reefs known for manta rays and turtles
- Visit islands inhabited by Komodo dragons
- Explore uninhabited islands across the national park
- Call in on stilted villages and a waterfall on Flores
- Optional scuba add-on with two dives for AUD$250
- Moderate pace with real physical demands — you are paddling most days
- One of the few operators running kayak expeditions inside the park, so expect a rougher-edged, less packaged feel
- Includes a conservation element, with plastic collection built into the days on the water
Worth it if you want intimate kayaking in pristine spots with a genuinely skilled, attentive crew. Think twice if you need constant activity or prefer larger group dynamics.
- Guides (Martyus, Mattias, Florey) are exceptional: deep local knowledge, actively tailor pace to your fitness, and genuinely care about safety and experience.
- Crew functions as a cohesive unit handling everything seamlessly—kayaking logistics, meals, camp setups—so you actually relax between activities, not stress.
- Weather can force idle boat days; one reviewer noted being 'hunkered down' due to wind with limited alternatives on that day.
- Bring a waterproof dry-bag for cameras on kayaks; the trip doesn't provide one and phones risk damage in close marine encounters.
