About this trip
Six days round Tasmania in a small group, starting and finishing in Hobart, with someone else doing the driving and planning while you take in rainforest, coast and convict history.
The West Coast brings rainforest and waterfalls plus a cruise on the Gordon River, before you head up to the alpine scenery of Cradle Mountain. From there it's east to the white sand and turquoise water of Wineglass Bay and the Bay of Fires.
You'll also get face to face with Tasmanian devils at a wildlife sanctuary and spend time at Port Arthur, learning the island's convict history.
What you'll do
- Cruise the Gordon River through West Coast rainforest
- Walk among the peaks and glacial lakes of Cradle Mountain
- Relax on the sand at Wineglass Bay and the Bay of Fires
- Meet Tasmanian devils at a wildlife sanctuary
- Explore the convict-era ruins of Port Arthur
- Easy-paced trip with a private room each night, not a hostel-dorm setup
- Fully guided throughout, so no need to plan routes or book activities yourself
Worth it if you want excellent guides and varied Tasmanian scenery. Think twice if you need seamless pre/post tour bookings or want flexibility at the final stop.
- Guide Phil and Haydn were genuinely knowledgeable storytellers who made the trip exceptional.
- Itinerary covers a lot of ground with varied activities: cruises, walks, and interesting locations throughout.
- On the Go Tours couldn't book advertised pre/post tour hotels or return flights; Americans accessed these, others couldn't.
- Eaglehawk Neck final location needs more time; LobstShack restaurant is distant with no shuttle and poor street lighting.
