About this trip
Ten days across Sri Lanka, moving from the coast up into the hill country and back down to the south for a run of wildlife safaris. It's a proper mix — ancient sites, tea country, national parks and a beach finish.
You'll climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, explore the cave temples at Dambulla and the ruins of Polonnaruwa, then take the train through tea plantations up to Nuwara Eliya. From there it's south to Udawalawe, Yala and Bundala for game drives, before winding down in Mirissa.
A guided trip for people who want ruins, wildlife and scenery in one go, without having to plan the logistics of getting between them.
What you'll do
- Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress
- Explore the cave temples of Dambulla and ruins of Polonnaruwa
- Ride the scenic train through tea plantations to Nuwara Eliya
- Safari for elephants and leopards in Udawalawe and Yala National Parks
- Spot birdlife in Bundala National Park
- Unwind on the beach in Mirissa
- Covers a lot of ground — expect to change location often between the hills, parks and coast
- Includes multiple safari days, so early starts for game drives are part of the pace
Worth it if you want guides who genuinely care and a solid mix of temples, wildlife, and downtime. Think twice if you're fussy about hotel consistency—some are dated compared to standouts like Jetwing.
- Guides Akhtar and Rajith manage challenging group dynamics while staying attentive to everyone else.
- The mountain train ride is a proper highlight; itinerary balances temples, safaris, and genuine free time well.
- Hotel quality varies noticeably—Jetwing properties stand out, but others feel dated and lack comparable amenities.
- First day packs quite a few temples in; worth knowing if temple fatigue is a concern for you.
