About this trip
Seven days across Rwanda, moving from the country's difficult history to its forests, lakes and wildlife. You start in Kigali with a visit to the Genocide Memorial, then head out to Akagera National Park for game viewing and on to Nyungwe Forest, one of the largest tropical forests in East Africa.
In Nyungwe you'll walk the canopy walkway, a suspended bridge over the forest canopy, in a park known for its concentration of primates. The trip then winds down at Lake Kivu, with kayaking, canoeing and a visit to Iby'Iwacu village to see something of local life and tradition.
Travel is by jeep and 4WD, fitting for the terrain, and this is a budget-focused version of the trip rather than a luxury one.
